2022 has been an exciting year in the craft beverage finance world. We’re seeing many craft breweries expanding, upgrading brewing equipment, and increasing distribution in Colorado and beyond. It’s thrilling watching these businesses grow and helping make their financing needs a breeze. Here are some of our favorite projects to come across the desk at Brewery Finance this year.
New Brewhouse Buildout for Downhill Brewing
It was an honor working with Downhill Brewing to finance their new brewhouse in Parker, Colorado. The name is a nod to the way the founding partners, Doug Hyndman and Jake Minturnmet, met on the slopes. In their new brewhouse, master brewer Nick Clary, is producing fantastic craft brews including Disco Kitchen Hazy IPA, Collision Kolsch, Slow Down West Coast Juicy IPA, and Chemtrails Fruited Pale Ale.
“We were excited to finally upgrade our brewhouse until it came to dealing with lenders. Brewery Finance helped remove the stress and gave us our excitement back. While banks were dragging their feet getting back to us, Rick kept constant communication and was able to assist us throughout the process. When it comes to financing, it’s certainly calming to work with someone we trust who looks out for our best interest. Rick is a suave man that is dripping with the vigor of a Colorado mountain lion. Once he entered our doors with that cowboy hat and belt buckle, we knew we were done for.”
-Jake Minturn, co-founder of Downhill Brewing.
Financing Used Brewing Equipment for Crystal Springs Brewery
One of the most common questions we receive here at Brewery Finance is if we can finance the purchase of used brewing equipment. The answer is yes, with the proper documentation and due diligence. We were thrilled to help Crystal Springs Brewing in Louisville, Colorado with several financing projects this year, including the purchase of some equipment from River North Brewery. It was a pleasure working with both of these Colorado based craft breweries to make this deal a streamlined success.
“I have worked with Rick Wehner with Brewery Finance on two or three projects now and couldn’t be happier with the experience. Not only was he responsive, but quick! I was able to take advantage of some great pricing on equipment and Rick helped me get financing that fit our needs. I’ll definitely be contacting him again when we need more funding.” -Tom Horst, Founder and Brewmaster at Crystal Springs Brewing.
Scouting a Dealcoholizer for Courageous Winery
This project was a first of its kind for Brewery Finance. Courageous Winery came to us looking to purchase a dealcoholizer, a machine that would take the alcohol out of the wine. They had already found a vendor for the equipment and once they submitted their application with Brewery Finance the entire process went smoothly. The founders at Courageous Winery had previously had negative experiences with lenders and we were pleased to make this into a pleasurable transaction for everyone involved.
